Mary,
I misplaced your E-mail address so am doing this. I looked at your pictures of my old apartment and read your comments. What fun to see them. A point on the mildew/ moisture problem. I never had one. But, I left the fan running 24 hours, 7 days a week in the bathroom. I don't believe it added a huge amount to my bill but it did keep my apartment from stinking and the walls in the bathroom clean. I also seldom used my dryer because of cost. I dried most things outside or in the winter inside in the tatami room on the blue bar hanger I left in there.
Sounds as if life is good. I miss Japan but a good friend from Nishinomiya will be here on June 16th and stay for three weeks. That will make me feel I am back a little bit.
