January brought in a joyous New Year but also marked the anniversary of the Great Hanshin/Awaji earthquake.

This is a monument for all the people who perished in the earthquake.
It is located just above our apartment building adjoining the cemetery.
The apartment that I am currently in came down in this quake!

I've decided to stay for a second term so I won't be going home to Spokane till August 2005. wow.
