My first trip to Tokyo

michellenhands.jpg

My friend, Michelle, and her son Justice at a park above their apartment in Yokosuka just outside of Tokyo.

These little baby statues all dressed up almost made us cry. It's apparent that someone is making clothes for these little guys and leaving little toys and momentos. I can't help think that Mom's are coming and paying respects to little ones that they have lost.

What an incredible view from here.
Makes me want to be a buddha and just sit here all day!

This looks like the "Nowhere Man"
in the Beattle's Yellow Submarine movie.

Feeding the birds at Kamakura.

This is my third school. A new school year begins on the first of April. I love Kobu Chugakko.
Of course there is a traditional welcoming party.
We went to karaoke after the dinner.

elvis.jpg

My first Japanese karaoke experience.
I loved singing an Elvis medley with help from one of my favorite Kobu teachers.

This is Kocho sensei - the principal and another teacher.
Wow, they are really good.
This is a great way to learn some Japanese songs.

These are barrels of sake
(I presume empty) at a Shinto shrine in Kamakura.

Lucky me, again, I just happened on a Shinto wedding while wandering through the grounds at Kamakura.
The bride's "horns" are hidden under her headress.

The Shinto priestess dance was mesmerizing.

Wedding musicians.

This is the famous Daibutsu of Kamakura.

This guy is really, really big.

Yes, it was crowded but this was a perfect time to visit. The weather was good, the cherry blossoms were out, lucky me.

Cherry blossoms and gaggles of cranes.
Am I in heaven?

amish.jpg

Yes, you read right - Amish cooking on the grounds of the great Daibutsu of Kamakura.
