This is my second junior high assignment. Here's a taste of the kids and the school.
Enjoy

Hyakuninishu.
A Japanese card game involving memorizing famous poems.
The first few stanzas of the poem are recited and the last few lines are written on the cards. The first one to recognize the poem grabs the card. Most cards wins.

One of my favorite English teachers, Hase-sensei.

Girls love this game.

Boys love it too.

Here's a sample card.
This is written in hiragana, one of the syllabaries used in Japan.

Kendo Club

kendogirls.jpg

Lots of yelling and whacking each other on the head.

It's quite the sport to watch.

Barefoot but the clothes are very hot.

kendo1.jpg

Boys in black and girls in white, i think.

George Lucas used these designs in the Star Wars movies.
Don't they look familiar?

Table Tennis Club

Vote for me.

School lunch

foodcrew.jpg

Crews from each class go to the kitchen and get the lunch and deliver to their individual classrooms.

msgoschlunch.jpg

Once in the classroom, the crew dishes out servings and delivers them to each student's desk.

servinglnch.jpg

Typical school lunch consists of a bowl of rice, soup, fish, salad and milk.
There are many variations and some different ethnic foods once in a while.

We have 15 minutes to eat lunch and then students deliver their dishes back to the carts and the crew carries everything back down to the kitchen.
Very quick and pretty efficient.

Kocho-sensei (our principal) lovingly calls this
japanesealps.jpg
The Japanese Alps!

Another incredible experience at this school.
